The following is an exerpt from a recent letter written by a new resident’s daughter…
Mom has been back in Colorado for almost four months now and I wanted to let you know how glad we are that we made the decision to settle her at The Lodge at Balfour. When she let me know about a year and a half ago that she was ready to move back to Colorado from Florida, my brother Greg and I researched many senior living communities in the Boulder area and Colorado Springs where he lives. We eliminated most of them because we knew they would not work for Mom but identified three in Colorado Springs and three in the Boulder area that we thought she might like and then brought her out here for a look. She immediately picked The Lodge as the place for her. Balfour staff was wonderful to us, residents we spoke with were enthusiastic, the buildings and grounds were beautiful and Mom said it really felt like a lodge and “not one of those places”.
Greg and I agreed that Balfour was the best choice but I had reservations about the distance to Louisville from my home in west Boulder. The drive takes about twenty or twenty-five minutes and I thought it would be better to be closer to Mom, however, seeing how happy she is in her sunny apartment overlooking the courtyard makes the drive a delight. She has had nothing but good things to say about her new home since her first day there – everyone at Balfour makes an effort to accommodate our requests with a flexibility that I didn’t expect but very much appreciate. And coming from a business environment I am impressed with Balfour’s efficiency and accuracy in business matters.
So thanks to all of the staff for keeping Balfour in the game when I wavered! A lot of thought has gone into planning the community and it shows. Knowing Mom is happy and well cared for is just the best feeling and I would be pleased to recommend Balfour to others and to share our experiences with them.
