Residents not only enjoy the food prepared by Balfour's chefs, but they occasionally do a little baking themselves.

New frontiers in the care for individuals with Alzheimer's disease.
Balfour is among a new generation of communities specifically designed to incorporate recent advances in the understanding and care of residents with memory loss. We offer a full continuum of care from early and mid-stage programs at our Cherrywood Village residence to a skilled nursing program at the Reserve on our main campus.
Located at 282 McCaslin Boulevard in Louisville, Cherrywood Village is a new and significant addition to the Balfour continuum of care. The residential building is specially designed with a central "town square" area. There are living rooms and family-style dining rooms, as well as country kitchens for supervised baking, small libraries for relaxation, and laundry rooms to allow residents to participate in familiar and comforting tasks.
Megan Carnarius, the executive director of Balfour Cherrywood Village has many years of Alzheimer's care experience. She is a nationally recognized expert in the design and management of Alzheimer's communities, and brings important skills and knowledge to our program. Megan believes strongly in emphasizing the strengths and abilities of our residents and nurturing their spirit. She also helps create a plan of care for residents that includes the whole family.
One of the important distinctions with Balfour is that we offer programs appropriate for those with late-stage Alzheimer's as well. This continuum of care means you can stay within the Balfour family, moving to The Reserve at our main campus three miles from Cherrywood Village. We attend to both the medical and psycho-social needs of our residents, with a full nursing and activities staff dedicated to late stage care.
