After one year of study with professional musician and drum circle facilitator Gregg Hansen, the Balfour Boom has taken its act on the road. Balfour Boom is comprised of 10 senior drummers who are residents at the Lodge at Balfour, an independent living community in Louisville. They showcased their musical talent last month with two West African djembe drumming performances.
The Balfour Boom's debut tour kicked-off Sept. 7 with a jam session at Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville, followed by a performance on the popular Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. The senior drummers joined other Pearl Street buskers, including balloon artists, jugglers, fire eaters, sword swallowers, contortionists, acrobats and magicians, and demonstrated their rhythm and beat techniques for delighted pedestrians.
