Banjo Billy's Bus Tours made a special stop at the Lodge at Balfour, an independent living community in Louisville, last month to whisk residents and staff off on a one-of-a kind guided tour of historic Boulder vignettes, including downtown Boulder, "The Hill," and Chautauqua.
Fourteen residents and three staff members boarded a zany shack-on-wheels complete with patterned barcaloungers and saddles, colorful tapestries and holiday lights.
Passengers heard haunting ghost stories, folklore and historical humor during the two-hour educational tour. Stops included the Boulderado Hotel, Mackey Auditorium, the Boulder History Museum, and the Colorado Chautauqua Park and Dining Hall.
Banjo Billy did his best to stump the savvy seniors with trivia and tidbits, including questions about Chief Niwot and a bizarre murder mystery at the Boulderado Hotel.
