Celebrate the Fall Feasts of the Jewish Traditions

Fall marks the time of a forty-day season called Teshuvah in the Jewish faith. Preparation for the holidays begin a full month in advance. Come travel with Anita Simon on the Jewish journey to explore the holidays of Rosh HaShannah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah. It is a time of celebration, reflection and hope for the year ahead. In keeping with the tradition of giving to less fortunate, you are encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food to this event. Donations will be delivered to the Boulder County Community Food Bank. Light holiday food (apples, honey, challah) will be served.

Parlando Faculty Series Presents: The Danny Meyer Jazz Trio

Parlando School of Music has partnered with Balfour to present a faculty series monthly in the Chautauqua Theater. Jazz is back this month with the Danny Meyer Trio. Featuring Danny Meyer on the saxophone, Carmen Sandim on piano, and Jean Luc Davis on bass, they will perform jazz favorites by Cole Porter, Gershwin, and others. has performed throughout the United States and has had the privilege to play alongside notable musicians such as Theo Peoples (Four Tops, Temptations), John Popper (Blues Traveler), and Kent McLagan (Jane Ira Bloom). Danny Meyer currently teaches full-time and is on staff at the Parlando School for the Arts, Boulder Country Day School, Justice High School (Boulder), the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts.

Art historian Cynthia Peer will present a slide show where you will learn interesting facts about Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, and many other famous artists of that time period. The June Cobin Memorial and CU Music Presents: A Harp and Violin Duo

Married musicians Rosalie Gilbert and Oscar Soler will perform a classical recital on harp and violin. Both are graduate students in CU’s music department and have performed together extensively both at CU and in other venues. They will perform works by Bach, Debussy, Piazzolla and Massanet. This concert is made possible by the June Cobin Memorial Fund.
