Vice President of Operations and Executive Director of Balfour Retirement Community

It’s incredibly freeing to know there’s a skilled nursing staff right in your own home.

You already have a chef and a housekeeper here. Why not a registered nurse?

Where do you go when you need a little more assistance than what’s offered in Assisted Living? Do you have to go through the upheaval and stress of finding another community? Will you be forced to move away from the Boulder area and the people you’ve grown so close to? And give up all the activities you find so meaningful?

No, you do not. Not at Balfour.

One of the things that makes Balfour truly different from other senior communities or nursing homes is we offer what’s known as a Continuum of Care. As your needs change, your level of care changes, not your community. Your friends will still be here on campus. And the high standard of service you’ve become accustomed to will still be yours.

Your intimate, home-like setting will still be the same. You’ll still have access to all the activities and Life Enrichment programs you love to do. It’s just now, you’ll have the constant attention and compassionate care of a whole staff of licensed nurses.

How much better would you sleep knowing you have a registered nurse right down the hall? How comforting would it be to know you can continue to enjoy fine dining prepared by our award-winning culinary staff? How less isolated would you feel?

That’s the kind of peace of mind you’ll have at The Wellshire and The Club. I invite you to come visit and see how we offer the best of all worlds. The warm, home-like setting you love–coupled with the extra care you need.

I look forward to helping you feel right at home.

How Do You Know If Skilled Nursing Is The Right Choice?

The following situations or conditions should be considered if you are wondering if skilled nursing is the right option:

  • Need for 24 hour care by licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants
  • Any condition that requires frequent monitoring by licensed nurses
  • Individuals who currently reside in assisted living and are experiencing increases in falls, weight loss, incontinence, and isolation

If any of these conditions are occurring, it may be the right time to consider a move to skilled nursing. At The Wellshire and The Club at Balfour, we are committed to providing “Resident Centered” care which includes around the clock professional skilled nursing care and a vibrant life enrichment program that includes many social activities to keep residents physically and socially active. It is important to our caring and qualified nursing staff that they give individualized care in a compassionate and loving way – including family support.
